Troy Coleman, known to fans as Cowboy Troy, is taking the fight against bullying into his own hands after the issue hit his home base.

The country singer and father recently became personally connected to the act of bullying as one of his triplet sons was being harassed at school. Coleman said the bully was interrupting his child’s learning and being aggressive out on the playground.

As any parent would, Coleman decided to step in and take care of business in order to protect his children and many others. He and his wife, Laura, have stepped up to the Maury County school district to develop stricter rules against bullying to protect all students.

“It’s not just our family; we understand that. We think that it’s a larger issue. It’s a systemic issue that needs to be dealt with on a larger scale,” said Coleman.

Coleman understands the drastic impacts bullying can have on the children and wants the act to stop so the children in that situation are able to succeed. He first stood up to the school board to lend a voice and wants to spread the message beyond just in his county of residence.

“It’s just a hard thing to deal with, so I think our kids need someone to be a voice, and if I have a microphone, to use that microphone to bring about change to help all students in this issue, then we’ll do it,” Coleman said.
