A Thanksgiving tradition will continue this year despite a stubborn public-health crisis, as Tracy Lawrence announces plans to feed and entertain Nashville’s homeless community.

Set for November 24, Lawrence’s annual Mission:Possible Turkey Fry and Free Benefit Concert will go ahead as planned. It will mark the event’s 15th year of belly stuffing… and perhaps its most important one yet. The two-part event will kick off early in the morning two days before Thanksgiving day, as Lawrence and friends gather to fry dozens of turkeys in the Nashville Rescue Mission parking lot. Those turkeys and all the trimmings will then be distributed among Music City’s unsheltered population, and all COVID-19 safety guidelines will be observed.

But there’s more to Lawrence’s vision than handing out hot meals. Later in the day, he’ll host a star-studded charity concert raising money for the Mission as well. Due to coronavirus restrictions, this year’s concert will be livestreamed from Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon, but fans can still tune in via the Talk Shop Live streaming platform — and for the first time ever the informal jam session will be free for all to see. Lawrence will lead a list of guest performers to be announced at a later date, with previous years welcoming many of the “Time Marches On” hit maker’s fellow ’90s stars.

Since its conception in 2006, the Tracy Lawrence Mission:Possible Turkey Fry and Free Benefit Concert has helped to raise nearly $1 million dollars and prepared approximately 93,000 meals. Along the way, Lawrence has personally fried thousands of turkeys in the name of brotherly love, raising awareness about the plight of homeless men, women and children everywhere.
