Within the center of Nashville’s Opry Mills mall, media and mall guests alike gathered on Wednesday (July 13) for the groundbreaking of the new Madame Tussauds wax museum opening in spring 2017.

Among the nearly 70 guests at Wednesday’s groundbreaking were Johnny Campbell, New Openings Director at Midway North America at Merlin Entertainments (Madame Tussauds); Mike Romstad, Senior Vice President of Property Management at Simon Property Group (Opry Mills); Terry Clements, Vice President of Government & Community Relations – Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp., who each spoke of their excitement to have the new attraction join Nashville’s long roster of places to visit.

The event also revealed that two of the figures to be featured will be Taylor Swift and Johnny Cash, who were kept on display during the brief press conference.

The Music City museum is the 7th in the United States and will be the first music-themed attraction, called “Soundtrack of America.” The Madame Tussauds Presents the Soundtrack of America exhibit will allow visitors to walk through the past and present of America’s rich musical history. Fans can expect over 45 figures featured in the museum.

Madame Tussauds is owned and operated by Merlin Entertainments plc. Other U.S. locations include Hollywood, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Orlando.
