Parmalee Presents the Country Dictionary of ‘Parmalisms’

With terms like ‘spoda,’ ‘whut,’ and ‘mildew or BBQ,’ Parmalee can sound pretty weird with their Southern dialect outweighing what they are actually trying to say, but now it's time to define the terms.

Parmalee Presents the Country Dictionary of ‘Parmalisms’
Parmalee

The guys of Parmalee don’t just communicate like every other group; they’ve got their own native language they’ve adapted to throughout the years of being together and it’s finally time to translate.

Introducing their fans into what they like to call ‘Parmalisms,’ the group defined the slang terms they throw out in their conservations with the people they meet. Giving the credit to their team and work crew that they hang out with on a daily basis, the ‘Parmalism’ terms mixes together Southern phrases with random words that make everyone confused by the sound of their nature.

With terms like ‘spoda,’ ‘whut,’ and ‘mildew or BBQ,’ Parmalee can sound pretty weird with their Southern dialect outweighing what they are actually trying to say. Thankfully, the guys are explaining in detail what they really mean when they’re casually chatting to folks.

The band credits their families for bringing their colloquial native language to them, as their grandfathers once taught their fathers how to speak like that and in turn, made the tradition solidified by passing it on to Parmalee. They note that it’s how they were raised and anyone over in the Carolinas region of the country can completely understand what they’re saying, even if everyone else is confused.

Check out some ‘Parmalisms’ that you may not have known before, and tune in to learn more about the guys in their Country Dictionary series, premiering on Sounds Like Nashville throughout the coming weeks.
