In the summer, there’s nothing like an ice cold beer, but when the weather turns chilly some folks shy away from suds in favor of brown liquor. At the annual Winter Warmer held at Sevier Park in 12 South, patrons have the option to enjoy both in the convivial company of hundreds of fellow fans wearing ugly holiday sweaters and down jackets. Sound like fun? Then read on!

For 2018 Winter Warmer has expanded to three days, adding a Friday night whiskey-centric tasting event on November 30 and a festive High Life Brunch on Sunday, December 2. These two events will bookend the popular beer festival on Saturday, December 1, where dozens of breweries will showcase the wares including some one-of-a-kind beers that will only be available as a part of the tasting. Unfortunately for lollygaggers, the Saturday Winter Warmer event has already sold out, but there might still be a handful of combination tickets available for the Friday “Whiskey Tabernacle” and the beer event. Check out this secret link and enter the promo code “chamberlain” if you want to see if you can grab one of the last tickets. (See, it pays to read Sounds Like Nashville!)

Even if you can’t get into the tent for Saturday, the other two events are definitely worth your consideration. The Whiskey Tabernacle will be held in the same tent as Winter Warmer, and there will be plenty of beer available, too, thanks to special collaboration brews between breweries and distilleries where beer is aged in used whiskey barrels. Additionally more than a dozen distilleries will offer samples of single-barrel or small-batch offerings that you aren’t normally easily available, plus each tasting table will offer cocktails made using their spirits. Needless to say, you won’t go thirsty.

After the serious tastings of Friday and Saturday, Winter Warmer gets casual on Sunday with the High Life Brunch at Urban Grub, just down the street from Sevier Park. Miller High Life has long been known as “The Champagne of Beers,” so it makes sense to feature them at a fun brunch. Just for the holidays, Miller is offering their flagship beer in 750 ml bottles that look like flagons of champagne. Y’know, to make cheap beer seem fancy. There will also be plenty of mimosas and bloody Marys to celebrate the end of the festive weekend plus a world-class brunch created by the talented kitchen at Urban Grub.
