Songs For The New Year

It’s a New Year, which means new beginnings and new possibilities. You’re able to shed the disappointments of the previous year and start anew. This can be tough to do, so we’ve compiled a list of songs to inspire you in the new year.

Rascal Flatts – “I’m Movin’ On”

This song is likely about a breakup but the message can be helpful to anyone wanting to put some part of their life behind them. In order to start the new year on the right foot, deal with your demons and move on.

Miley Cyrus – “The Climb”

New beginnings are constant. Everything changes and we have to start over multiple times in our lives. The start of a new year is customarily seen as a chance to o start over, this tune from the Hannah Montana soundtrack reminds us that with every new start there are challenges that you can conquer.

Tim McGraw – “Live Like You Were Dying”

As you reflect on the year behind you, this time of year also makes us start thinking about what we can change going forward. As you are making your new year resolutions, remember the message in McGraw hit. We’ve all have goals to better our careers and become more successful but always remember to focus on living life as well.

Kacey Musgraves – “Follow Your Arrow”

As you move forward and focus on the new 2016 you, Kacey Musgraves wants you to be yourself.  As she says in this tune, you can’t please everyone “so you might as well just do whatever you want.” We all want to be liked, but it’s most important to like ourselves.

George Jones – “Choices”

As you’re contemplating the past year, don’t be so hard on yourself. We all make mistakes. We all have regrets. What matters is how you live and die with the choices that you’ve made.

Dixie Chicks – “Wide Open Spaces”

Do you need a little push to make a big change in your life? The debut tune from the Chicks, while telling the tale of a young girl breaking out on her own, can help us all remember the anxiety that come new beginnings and give us strength to overcome it.

Travis Tritt – “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive”

Science proves that this song immediately inspires. Okay, maybe not science, but Tritt’s hit can turn that frown upside down. The best thing about this song is that there isn’t anything special about the day being described. As we start a new year, we can all use the message that any day can be a great day to be alive.
