Blake Shelton is giving fans another taste of what’s to come on his forthcoming 12th studio album with the release of the deeply personal song, “Savior’s Shadow.”

Hitting Christian radio this week, “Savior’s Shadow” was co-written by Shelton and Nashville songwriting veterans Jessi Alexander and Jon Randall. Alexander and Randall also provide harmonies on the tune.

The idea for “Savior’s Shadow” came to Shelton unexpectedly during a difficult time in his life. It’s also a song that is understandably very close to his heart.

“At a very dark time in my life last year I dreamed the first verse of this song,” Shelton said in a press release. “I woke up and immediately wrote it down. Now, looking back, I know it was God’s way of telling me that he’s here and things are gonna be OK.”

“Savior’s Shadow” immediately resonated with fans, who began to tweet Shelton in response to the song upon its release. One fan event admitted it “brought tears to my eyes.” Shelton quickly responded saying he was “so amazed by all this reaction!”

The song will be included on Shelton’s much-anticipated new album, If I’m Honest, which drops May 20.
