Charles Esten Says ABC’s ‘Nashville’ Is A Love Letter to Music City

“Clearly from the word go, from the first pilot, that was written by Callie Khouri, our show is a love letter to Nashville, and what was so exciting was seeing that love returned to us by the city,” Esten says.

Charles Esten Says ABC’s ‘Nashville’ Is A Love Letter to Music City

Back in the day, many people thought Nashville was defined as the homeland of dirt roads and rednecks. Fast forward a few years later, Music City has come into its own as a hot spot for tourists or the place of bright-light music dreams.

If Charles (Chip) Esten, who plays Deacon Claybourne on ABC’s Nashville, has anything to say about it, he thanks the show for bringing the hype to the big riverside city.

“Definitely the show ‘Nashville’ I know it helps the city and many people that come here, not just for the city but for the whole state, are drawn by the show, the city that they didn’t know as much about and they’re here now,” said Esten in an interview recently.

Like many shows centered around one specific location on television, ABC’s Nashville does its best to showcase what life is like in Music City. In that respect, Esten notes that the show not only serves its storytelling purpose, but displays the passion for the area as well.

“Clearly from the word go, from the first pilot, that was written by Callie Khouri, our show is a love letter to Nashville, and what was so exciting was seeing that love returned to us by the city,” said Esten.

ABC’s Nashville and the city itself have gone hand-in-hand with one another for quite some time now, and Esten sees no reason for it to stop.

“We’re just holding up a mirror and the mirror says it’s the beautiful city that it is, with all the great music and all the great people and the world gets to see that and so here they come.”

Nashville returns tonight at 10/9c with a new episode, featuring the wedding every fan has been waiting for between Rayna and Deacon.
