As a father and a proud husband, Chris Janson wanted to spread the message of respect in “Drunk Girl,” his new single to country radio.

Spinning the title for a more poignant theme, Janson sings about taking care of a lady under the influence by not taking advantage of a certain situation. Rather than use the drunk excuse to get away with the worst, the singer emphasizes making sure everything is in order by leaving the door locked and his number written down in case she needs anything during her recovery.

“Take a drunk girl home / Let her sleep all alone / Leave her keys on the counter your number by the phone / Pick up her life she threw on the floor,” Janson sings.

The Missouri native stresses the importance of remaining courteous in moments of vulnerability for women throughout the song and hopes it will have an influence on those listening.

“It’s a message song to the younger generation of men about being sure that you always show women the utmost of respect, certainly in the situations of taking somebody home, or in youthful terms, ‘hooking up.’ You want to make sure that you are doing it with great respect and being a man about it. I think that ‘Drunk Girl’ is the epitome of that, and such a well-written song. It was a joy to co-write it with Tom Douglas and Scooter Carusoe. It was certainly my honor to be a part of that song,” Janson previously told Sounds Like Nashville.

The single marks a dramatic follow-up to the party anthem, “Fix a Drink,” that soared up the charts following its release. Janson hopes his new powerful track resonates just as well with his audience and country fans everywhere based on its timeliness of the matter.

“Drunk Girl” can be found on Janson’s LP, Everybody, which is available everywhere now.
