Putting hard work and energy into anything pays its way off in the long run. For Dylan Scott, he dedicates anywhere from weeks to even many months to get his music right and it’s led him down the right path so far.

The Louisiana native has been working his way up the ladder throughout the past couple years as a newcomer to the Country music scene. His current single, “Crazy Over Me,” is continuing to climb the Billboard Country charts, but the song itself didn’t come quite as easy as its success has.

After his roommate and fellow songwriter, Matt Alderman, pitched him the idea for the song, they sat down to write it. But it wasn’t one of those sacred songwriting moments where the lyrics pour out in no time at all.

“We wrote the first verse and chorus to “Crazy Over Me” and it took us almost a complete year. I think it took us ten and a half months later, we finished “Crazy Over Me.” So it was one of those songs that didn’t come easy, but we want it to be right and to feel like we actually got it that way,” Scott explained to Sounds Like Nashville.

Scott’s music reflects his own personal preferences—he infuses his favorite genres of old-school country, pop and hip-hop for a flair that’s all his own. His album, which does not have a release date yet, will feature all of the eclectic influences from track to track.

“I like all music, so for people who like all music whether it’s straight-up country music or something a little less, it’ll be on this album,” he promised.

With everything on the uphill journey for Scott, he landed his first ever performance for the Opry at the Ryman back in January. The moment was a dream come true for the up-and-coming artist, especially because he was able to share the night with some of his favorites, including his brother who plays lead guitar for him on tour.

“My dad was there, my mom was there, a lot of family was there. I got to play my dad’s guitar and played it on stage, so it was just a really, really cool night,” he said, reminiscing and yet still in shock over the night to remember.

Another part of the job that Scott puts a lot of heart into is his social media. He created his “Stripped” series on YouTube for fans itching to hear his songs before they hit the shelves. Scott tries to interact with his fans as well, reaching out them whenever he has the opportunity to do so.

“I can’t get everybody, but if somebody tweets me or messages me, I try my best to at least send something back. So it’s fun watching it grow,” he said.

Fans can get crazy over Scott while he’s out on tour with Lee Brice at the moment or by following him through his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
