Jamie Lynn Spears recently released an acoustic version of her brand new single, “Sleepover,” for YouTube’s Nashville Sessions, which has kickstarted quite the attention for the track.

Spears, who teamed up with writers Liz Rose, Tina Parol and Corey Crowder for the single, gives her best pop-country twang in the song all about patience in a relationship. Noting that Spears last released a song back in 2014, she is back and better than ever with her fun and flirty vocal on the track. The acoustic version of the song also solidifies her place in country music, proving she’s got a knack for telling a good story.

“Sleepover” was written on a girls retreat in Florida as a cute way to tell boys to respect Spears’ wishes and wait for love to blossom in time rather than rush it all quick. The hook establishes that empowerment in a cheeky, light-hearted way that shows that Spears knows exactly where her head is at in her life and career.

“‘Sleepover’ has really set the tone for my next chapter as an artist,” said Spears in a press release. “Sometimes I forget that I’m only 25 years old so I wanted to embrace that. We as women can be mothers and wives, but we can still be confident, sexy and flirty. ‘Sleepover’ really helped me understand that side of me more.”

Spears was also the subject of a TLC documentary that aired on June 26th called When the Lights Go Out. The documentary showcased what her life is like now after all of the negative press over her teen pregnancy and how she has used music to guide her back into the person she wants to be.

“Sleepover” is available on all digital retailers and can be heard on iTunes and Spotify.
