When Loretta Lynn shows up to the CMA Country Christmas celebration, the stars line up to get the opportunity to join along in a song with the legend. Jennifer Nettles and Trisha Yearwood were in luck this year as they collaborated with Lynn on a performance of “Good Ol’ Country Christmas” during the television special.

Bringing the sound back to the roots of country music, the girl power trio layered their unique voices on top of one another for a phenomenal harmony like no other. With Lynn leading the pack in the performance, the two other country queens chimed in during the family-oriented chorus and got everyone dancing along in their Grand Ole Opry seats.

Nettles, who took the role of host for the seventh year of the production, was not only excited to perform with the greats like Lynn and Yearwood, but also was extremely thrilled to see all of the talent hitting the stage for this year’s CMA Country Christmas shindig.

“Some people are like, ‘Oh why didn’t you invite so-and-so? Why didn’t you invite so-and-so?’ And I’m like, ‘Well first of all, I don’t invite people. And second of all, usually it depends on who has put a Christmas record out.’ People want something to come and celebrate, you know, these albums that they’ve made,” she explained to Sounds Like Nashville and other media in attendance. “And so this year, all that becomes cyclical. So this year we have a great crop of artists who have put out records this year. You know, everybody from Kacey Musgraves to Brett Eldredge to Chris Young.”

Nettles happened to sing a few songs during the evening as she came out with her own Christmas album this season called To Celebrate Christmas. Fans can pick up a copy of the holiday project in stores or online now.
