Jon Pardi Plays With Puppies, Performs on ‘Good Morning America’

California native Jon Pardi strapped on his boots and made his way to the Big Apple for two special performances on Good Morning America Thursday morning (March 23). In the studio, Pardi thrilled fans with his two-week No.1 song “Dirt On My Boots,” as well as the title track from his latest album, California Sunrise.
During his time on the morning television show, Pardi took part in a Facebook Live with GMA’s Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee, who presented Pardi with a puppy to snuggle with in honor of National Puppy Day and a gold plaque for the song.
A clearly surprised Pardi looked thrilled over the announcement and shared that the photo displayed on the plaque was actually shot in New York City.
The song’s success shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to Pardi as he knew it’d be a “jam” from the second he heard the demo.
“I knew when I heard it, it was a hit. It had something about it that was familiar, like it had that radio sound,” the California native said of the song written by Rhett Akins, Jesse Frasure and Ashley Gorley. “The demo, I just heard the melody and lyrics, and I just felt like, man, I think this is really gonna be a jam. When we finished, I described ‘Dirt on My Boots’ as like the song that you pull up to the club or the party and you’ve got your windows down and you’re blaring ‘Dirt on My Boots.’”
The accolade is just another one of his latest acknowledgments as he recently claimed the title of New Male Vocalist of the Year for the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards, where he’ll also be performing. The 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards will broadcast live from the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 2 (live 8:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
