Friday, April 22 marked the start of a new era for Josh Kelley. The singer/songwriter released New Lane Road, his first album in five years, today.

“I’ve been working on this record for a long time now, probably for the last three, four years,” Kelley told Sounds Like Nashville. “It’s done, here we go. Here’s another one.”

The project was more personal than ever before, in both the lyrics and the production behind it.

“This one’s just super honest, super me. I did it all on my own. I’ve always produced most of my records over the years,” Kelley explained. “I actually play all of the instruments. I play 15 different instruments and I do it all on my own and pretty much always have.”

Despite the many years between his project and his Georgia Clay record, the older brother to Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley is feeling better than ever about the project.

“I feel like I’m just a totally different person now and I think this is the beginning of a very bright future.”
