Five years after the release of his Georgia Clay album, Josh Kelley is back with new music, including “It’s Your Move,” the lead single from his upcoming album New Lane Road.

The song chronicles a fight between him and his wife, actress Katherine Heigl. Because of the relation to the song, it only made sense to the singer that the two should star in the video as well.

“Katie directed it. She wrote the treatment. She starred in it. To me, it makes sense. It was our fight. It would be weird to have anybody else doing it,” Kelley told Sounds Like Nashville.

Although they were recreating a dark moment in their relationship, shooting the clip couldn’t have been any easier for the couple.

“I have never had anybody be so prepared in my entire life,” he said. “She was so prepared. She had the whole thing mapped out to the point where when we made the video, it was so enjoyable because we knew exactly what was coming up next.”

The process of creating “It’s Your Move” was so enjoyable, in fact, that Heigl has her sights set on more music videos in the future.

“I told her, ‘you’re about to get a lot of calls to do some videos honey,’ and she wants to. She told me, she was like ‘I had the best time making that video. It was such a creative process and so fulfilling.’ She really did a great job,” he concluded.

Kelley’s album New Lane Road hits shelves April 22. He will soon hit the road with his younger brother, Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley, as part of The Driver Tour. The tour kicks off this Saturday, April 9 in Washington, DC at The Fillmore.
