As a musician, the best way for Kacey Musgraves to lend a hand in trying times is to give her voice to a project that sends a strong message to all who listen.

Musgraves is among 24 artists who signed on to do a new recording for one giant collaboration on the song, “Hands.” The song, written by Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter and BloodPop, honors and recognizes the Orlando tragedy that happened back in June, which killed 49 people and injured 53 others.

The all-star collaboration will not only inspire listeners to think more lovingly and kindly, but the proceeds made by the song will all go toward aiding families with medical care, education and counseling services. Tranter wanted to create such a piece that made an emotional impact on all that listened so they know they are not alone and that they can do something to help out in their own ways.

Other artists featured on the charitable track include Britney Spears, Pink, Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani, Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Juanes, Mary J. Blige, Adam Lambert, Halsey, RuPaul and many more. Each was assigned their own featured verse or line to create a beautifully-infused ballad that the producers made into a classic piece, just as they planned.

“We didn’t want to have any trendy electronic elements,” Tranter noted in a Billboard article. “We wanted it to sound classic, timeless and human. We want this anthem of positivity to be played for years to come.”

The song, “Hands,” will be available for purchase on iTunes tonight (7/6). All proceeds will be distributed by GLAAD, the Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund and the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida. Readers can listen to the track below for a preview.
