Singer/songwriter Kelleigh Bannen is back with a brand new music, just in time for summer!
The Nashville native released Cheap Sunglasses, five-track EP, to iTunes and Spotify on Friday (June 17). Bannen had a hand in co-writing each track and admits this is her most authentic and personal release yet.
While the title track may sound like a fun summer anthem, it actually goes much deeper than that. “One of my favorite things to do, and this is one of the things that I most admire about the great Dolly Parton, is taking something and making it mean something slightly different than what it does at first glance,” Bannen tells Sounds Like Nashville. Adding, “This song is actually about standing up for yourself. I’m really proud of the way that song turned out.”
Another track on the EP is the infectious “Landlocked,” which is the perfect jam for anyone who longs for a summer beach day, but can’t quite make it to the shore.
“Let’s make the best of wherever we are,” Bannen tells us of the song’s message. “We can have a party, even if the circumstances aren’t ideal.”
For the music video, the singer threw a backyard party and even got some help from one of Country music’s biggest stars.
“The pool floats came from Mr. Luke Bryan himself. He brought them into town and delivered them to me for the pool party scene.”
