Kelsea Ballerini Channels 2000s Pop Icons in ‘Yeah Boy’ Music Video
“I definitely love pushing boundaries and I've always loved strong female artists in every genre, and Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson are some of my favorites,” Kelsea said.
To cap off an extremely successful year, Kelsea Ballerini has released the music video for her latest single, “Yeah Boy.”
In the throwback-style clip, Ballerini channels some of the 2000s most beloved female pop icons. “I definitely love pushing boundaries and I’ve always loved strong female artists in every genre, and Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson are some of my favorites,” Kelsea said. “I probably picked up some of their performance tendencies that I put in my live show and in this video.”
The video features bright colors as well as dancers, which is something that you don’t see all too often in country music videos, but the final product is something the Tennessee native is quite proud of.
“We wanted the video to be a lot like the tour, and mimic all the bright lights and colors and outfits,” she shared. “I wanted to incorporate some dancers into this video because I’ve always loved dance; I feel like this song is perfect for that because it’s very bouncy and fun.”
“Yeah Boy” is the fourth single from Ballerini’s debut album, The First Time. If the song follows in the footsteps of her previous singles, it’s poised to become another chart topper. The thought of having another No.1 is exciting, but also scary, she says.
“I would love to put all the good vibes on that song that I possibly can. I love that song and I feel like it really rounds out the record,” Ballerini recently told Sounds Like Nashville and other media. “It kind of goes back to the feeling of ‘Love Me Like You Mean It,’ and that’s like the record that we made. It’s fun and flirty and poppy and in that vein and that’s a big side of me. I think it’s going to be fun to wrap it back around to that and hopefully it’s four for four. I don’t want to jinx it! That’s terrifying, but that’d be cool!”
Ballerini will enjoy some much deserved time off through now through mid-January when she sets sail on Country Cruising out of Tampa, FL.
