Listen to Eric Church’s Heartbreaking Single, ‘Round Here Buzz’

“I never had big city eyes / Hell, I’ve never been east of Dallas / Got no idea where you are now / Or if you ever got that penthouse palace,” Church sings.

Eric Church faces the heartache of a hometown love that’s run away in his new single, “Round Here Buzz.”

After winning over the heart of a preacher’s daughter in the midst of the high school dream, Church sings about how she moved away and moved on without him, leaving him alone in the little spot they both called home when they were young. Although he never expresses spite or anger toward her decision to leave everything behind, Church finds his consolation of heartbreak at the bottom of a bottle.

Reflecting on their different desires while growing up with lyrics like, I never had big city eyes / Hell, I’ve never been east of Dallas / Got no idea where you are now / Or if you ever got that penthouse palace,” it seems Church is still longing for closure within a relationship gone by.

“Round Here Buzz” marks the follow-up to “Kill a Word,” featuring Rhiannon Giddens, and focuses back on the aspects of love rather than the power of language. The track also stands as the fourth single to be released to radio off of Church’s album, Mr. Misunderstood.

Listen to the track now, and be sure to catch Church out on the road for the Holdin’ My Own Tour with dates throughout the entirety of spring.
