Luke Combs Readies Debut Album, ‘This One’s For You’
“From North Carolina to Nashville, this project has been such a long time in the making and I can’t wait for the fans to hear it," said Combs.
2017 is bound to be a big one for country newcomer Luke Combs, who recently announced the release date and track listing for his debut album, This One’s For You. Hitting shelves on June 2, the project will feature 12 songs, all of which were co-written by Combs.
“I couldn’t be more proud of this album. These songs mean so much to me and all my friends who I wrote them with,” said the 27-year-old Asheville, NC native in a press release. “From North Carolina to Nashville, this project has been such a long time in the making and I can’t wait for the fans to hear it. I sincerely hope they enjoy the album because they are the reason I do what I do.”
With inspiration from one of his musical heroes Eric Church, Combs knew he had to have a hand in each song to present his most authentic self to fans who were just starting to come across this music.
“I co-wrote all 12 songs on the album. I just love writing songs and I think for me, as a fan of music, nothing against cutting songs, I would cut a great song if I heard it, but I just had the songs and I was like ‘let’s do this,’” he told Sounds Like Nashville. “When I go and see a concert, when I watch somebody and say ‘okay, well this guy wrote everything, I feel like I’m really connecting with that guy because those are his thoughts that he’s put down and turned into a song.’ I really enjoy that aspect of music so I’m trying to bring that to what I’m doing.”
The budding singer has been the topic of conversation since sending his single “Hurricane” to country radio. He’s since landed on many Ones to Watch lists, including Sounds Like Nashville’s list for 2017. Fans can catch Combs out on the road has he tours with Brantley Gilbert as a part of the Devil Don’t Sleep Tour through September. He’ll also take the stage at many popular music festivals this summer, including Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, CMA Music Fest, Stagecoach Festival and Tortuga Music Festival.
