In the final days before his April 6 death, Merle Haggard did what he did best: write songs. And tomorrow, May 12, 2016, fans will be able to purchase Haggard’s final piece of work; a song entitled “Kern River Blues.”

According to a statement made by his manager Tresa Redburn, the song will be available on Merle’s official website and iTunes beginning tomorrow, and 10 percent of the proceeds from sales of the tune will go directly to homeless charities.

The lyrics of “Kern River Blues” were read by his sister Lillian at a memorial service held for Haggard in Bakersfield, California earlier this week. The song reportedly made its official debut on Sirius XM’s Willie’s Roadhouse.

After multiple bouts with pneumonia, Haggard died on April 6, 2016. It was his 79th birthday.
