Miranda Lambert Performs ‘Desperado’ In Honor Of The Eagles

Earlier this month, Miranda Lambert spent a weekend in Washington, DC to attend the 38th annual Kennedy Center Honors. The special event was held to celebrate the careers of singer-songwriter Carole King, filmmaker George Lucas, actress and singer Rita Moreno, conductor Seiji Ozawa, and actress and Broadway star Cicely Tyson, who were the recipients of the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors. The legendary Rock and Roll band the Eagles were also up for the honor, but member Glenn Frey was unable to attend due to health concerns, so the band defered their honor until next year.

Although the band wasn’t in attendance, Lambert was asked to perform one of their best-known hits, “Desperado,” at the event. She did so with grace, and delivered a stunning performance of the song from the band’s 1973 album of the same name.

The Kennedy Center Honors was taped on December 6 and aired earlier this week on CBS. The event was held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and was attended by several celebrities including Kerry Washington, Stephen Colbert, Usher, and Aretha Franklin. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were also in attendance.
