Montgomery Gentry’s ‘Here’s to You’ Lands the No. 1 Spot on iTunes Country Chart
It took more than three years to release new music, but Montgomery Gentry came out on top by earning the No. 1 spot on the top of the iTunes Country Chart, No.2 on the Billboard Top Country Alum Chart and No.2 on the Billboard Independent Album Chart with Here’s To You.
Marking a significant accomplishment in the duo’s career, it also comes as a poignant and touching honor for Eddie Montgomery who is keeping the duo’s long-lasting legacy going following Troy Gentry’s sudden passing. Knowing how much hard work the two put into it before Gentry’s death as well as the spirit that the record took on in the following months, fans led the way for making the album become a monumental piece in their career.
From start to finish, Montgomery knew Here’s to You would become a meaningful chapter in the duo’s book and even more so now as it honors Gentry’s legacy within his vocals. Proud of what they accomplished together, Montgomery felt as though the project resembled what people wanted to hear and what they could relate to.
“I think it’s a hell of an album,” Montgomery told Sounds Like Nashville during a recent interview. “There are different things I like about all of the songs. We started doing ‘Drink Along Song’ in our shows before we even recorded it. We did it live and we knew it was going to be a hit because as soon as soon as we started singing it by the second chorus everybody was singing it back to us. I love ‘King of the World.’ ‘Feet Back on the Ground’ is about your mama and it’s the way I feel sometimes when I go to mom’s house because she’s always cooking or something. ‘Needing A Beer’ takes me back to the nightclubs because we were always singing about the working class. People would be coming in and celebrating a promotion or they might be celebrating because they were getting divorced.”
Appearing in top slots on many other music charts as well as gaining great attention from a number of media outlets, Montgomery Gentry definitely paved their way with their authentic sound and genuine passion lying deep within the heart of their music.
Fans can see Montgomery carry the legacy on through the Here’s to You Tour hitting cities across the country over the next few months.
