“I think and just hope at the very core, I just hope it makes them feel good and forget about whatever is stressing them out for three minutes..." said Matt Ramsey of the group.

Old Dominion expresses themselves in a cheeky manner when it comes to the majority of their music library, but this time around, they wanted to use their positive attitude toward life as the next chapter in their career.

With the release of their latest single, “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart,” the guys of the band talk about how to keep it all together even when the world seems like a mess. Sticking with their classic upbeat sound despite the somewhat heavy subject matter, lead singer Matt Ramsey hopes this first hit off their forthcoming record reflects their growth as a group.

“It just felt like the right step for us. We’re proud of the song and it felt like it says something a little different than what we have said in the past. It shows off our songwriting cred and talents a little bit. I don’t know, it just felt like the right—it’s a fun, up-tempo sounding song but it’s more of a message than anything we’ve put out. So it just felt like the right move,” Ramsey explained exclusively to Sounds Like Nashville recently.

Noting the positive outlook radiating throughout the entirety of the track, Ramsey also wishes for fans to take away an inspiring message from their new sound and brighten up their day, even for a brief time.

“I think and just hope at the very core, I just hope it makes them feel good and forget about whatever is stressing them out for three minutes and they can just feel good and realized that s–t happens,” Ramsey said. “You can’t always control it, but hopefully it doesn’t control you. Just live your life without the fear and keep moving.”

“No Such Thing as a Broken Heart” is currently playing on country radio. The track will be featured on the band’s upcoming album, Happy Endings, out August 25.
