Country’s newest “it” couple is no more.

According to PEOPLE, Jana Kramer and Brantley Gilbert have ended their engagement.

A source tells PEOPLE that it was the time spent apart that’s to blame. “They are both so busy right now,” the source says. “They are both on the road and have to spend a lot of time apart, which isn’t ideal for any couple, let alone a couple trying to plan a wedding.”

Their busy schedules seem to be the only reason for the split. “There was no foul play involved, it’s nothing like that,” the insider adds. “They were happy together but know what’s best.”

In an interview with Us Weekly earlier this summer, Kramer hinted at problems. “Brantley and I… I’m either writing or he’s in the studio, and we block those days [out to spend together], but then we fill them with work stuff,” she explained, adding that “Miranda [Lambert] said, ‘Make the days that you have together just your days…Like, don’t do any work. So I’m like, ‘Oh wait, we started that; we just didn’t actually commit to it.’ And she’s like, ‘You have to have those days. You have to block those days and say, ‘No management, no this, no working. Just you two. Because if not, you lose focus.'”

After dating for only a little more than six months, Gilbert popped the question in January of this year. He surprised Jana by renting out Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium for the romantic proposal.
