Country newcomer Ryan Griffin has been fired up to release his music for a long time and in March, realized his dream when his debut EP Sake of the Summer was released. Leading the five-song project is a song called “Back Seats and Burnt CDs,” written by Josh Kerr.

The song comes to life in the three-and-a-half minute clip that follows a young couple through their adventures around town and at a nearby bonfire party with friends. With the help of director Jim Cook, the Florida native was able to connect the lyrics in the song with the images in the video.

“We were Friday night lovers in the parking lot / We were renegades runnin’ out of time on the clock / When the headlights died, no, we didn’t stop,” he sings in the chorus.

“The imagery in that song, it puts you right there. We were super intentional in production and building the song. The first chorus doesn’t hit nearly as big as the second chorus, and actually, everything kind of goes away production-wise when the first hook hits,” Griffin told Sounds Like Nashville of the production behind the song. “It’s just a cool, engaging song and the imagery in it is what really stole my heart. It just took over my mind when I was sitting there in those seats listening to it.”

The video is just the first glimpse into what’s to come from the budding star. Fans can hear more from Ryan Griffin by checking out his Sake of the Summer EP.
