Sam Hunt Makes History with 25-Week Streak on Billboard Charts
He may enjoy the ’15 in a 30’ lifestyle, but Sam Hunt is speeding his way to history with the withstanding position of his current single, “Body Like a Back Road,” on the Billboard charts.
After taking the No. 1 spot at Country radio for three weeks, the track remained at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for a whopping 25 weeks. “Body Like a Back Road” also claimed a spot in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart for 16 consecutive weeks, longer than any other song in the chart’s 25-year history.
Written by Hunt along with Shane McAnally, Zach Crowell and Josh Osborne, the pop-infused country single remains to be the most streamed and downloaded song in the genre digitally. Having no signs of stopping, Hunt proves that his revolutionary approach to his country sound can make headlines and keep people talking.
“I try to think of titles or lines that’ll cross my mind and I’ll put ‘em in my phone, and this was one that I wanted to write for a while – the title ‘Body Like a Back Road’ – or use it as a lyric, do something with it. I didn’t have a melody, but one night this melody got stuck in my head and the phrase ‘Body Like a Back Road’ sang perfectly to it and the chorus came out pretty quick. And then we went in and started working on the song with the producer and a couple of writing buddies, and I wanted to write it because I thought it was a fun song,” Hunt said previously of the single’s unique lyrical qualities.
Fans have been waiting for Hunt to release even more tracks off his anticipated sophomore effort, but the country singer is letting music take a bit of a back seat to his personal life. He tied the knot to on-again, off-again girlfriend Hannah Lee Fowler back in the spring and the two have been staying under the radar ever since.
Those who want to her the history-making single, “Body Like a Back Road,” live can check out Hunt’s 15 in a 30 Tour hitting cities throughout the next few weeks of summer.
