Scotty McCreery Gives Us All The Feels With New Song, ‘Five More Minutes’

After losing his grandfather early last year, Scotty McCreery did what any grieving songwriter would do: write a song.

The North Carolina native recently performed that song, entitled “Five More Minutes,” at the Grand Ole Opry, and lucky for us, the Opry caught it all on camera.

“I wrote this song probably about a couple weeks after I lost my grandfather,” McCreery told the crowd before his performance. “We were very close and he’s never heard this song, but I know he’s watching and very proud of me, the fact that I’m at the Grand Ole Opry tonight.”

The 22-year-old went on to perform the song, which isn’t about death, but hoping for just “Five More Minutes” at various moments throughout life.

“The time rolls by, the clock don’t stop/I wish I had a few more drops of the good stuff, the good times/Aww, but they just keep on flying/Right on by like it ain’t nothing/I wish I had me a pause button/Moments like those, Lord knows I get it/Give myself five more minutes.”

“Five More Minutes” epitomizes everything we love about Country music, and we hope that McCreery will be releasing this one to Country radio very soon.
