Throwback Thursday: Re-live Miranda Lambert’s ‘Me and Charlie Talking’
Miranda Lambert- "Me and Charlie Talking"

It is hard to believe that country superstar Miranda Lambert is gearing up to release her sixth studio album, The Weight of These Wings, after dominating the genre for a majority of the 2000’s. Eleven years ago we were first introduced to the vocal powerhouse when she released her first single and corresponding music video, “Me and Charlie Talking.”

In the almost retro music video, a younger Lambert makes her memorable debut. She’s as beautiful as ever as she tells the tale of her first love at ten-years-old. She still carries the same girl-next-door look though her style has matured since then.

Scenes of recording the track, backstage playing her guitar and kicking back at the pool hall flash across the screen as the happy-go-lucky tune reminds us of the time before she began winning ACM and CMA Awards and breaking all kinds of records.

“So you treat your love like a firefly, like it only gets to shine for a little while/Catch it in a mason jar with holes in the top and run like hell to show it off/Oh, promises were made when we’d go walkin’, that’s just me and Charlie talking,” Lambert sings in the chorus.

Prior to making her major-label album premiere, Lambert got looped into the music industry via her time on talent competition show, Nashville Star. With all of the success she has had following her time on the broadcast, it’s hard to believe that she only came in third place. Good thing that didn’t stop her.

Since 2005, Lambert has released five studio albums, including Kerosene, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Revolution, Four the Record and Platinum. Along the way she has taken home a combined total of 31 ACM and CMA Awards as well as two GRAMMYs. A lot sure has changed since her and Charlie started talking!

The “Vice” singer is slated to release her much-anticipated new studio album, The Weight of These Wings, on Nov. 18.
