"It’s important how we speak to one another, but it’s particularly important how a female, how a girl learns to be spoken to and how she speaks to others," said Hill.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill recently dropped their long-awaited collaboration “Speak to a Girl,” preaching a message of respect to women and girls. The track, written by Shy Carter, Dave Gibson and Joe Spargur, is one that immediately resonated with the country superstars, who are parents to three young women.

“When you have three daughters and you are lucky enough to come across a song that says ‘Speak to a Girl,’ it kind of resonates with us pretty quickly,” Hill shared of the track in an interview with iHeartRadio. “I think it’s important, particularly this day and time that we live in, words matter, you know? It’s important how we speak to one another, but it’s particularly important how a female, how a girl learns to be spoken to and how she speaks to others. I think it’s vitally important.”

Added her husband of 20 years, “What they should expect and it comes from the environment that they live in and how they’re spoken to growing up, you know, validation, confirmation, respect. Those are the things that I think really matter when you’re raising girls. And it’s important for the boys that are around your girls to see how you treat them, how you speak to them, as well.”

McGraw played on the message of the song later into the interview, sharing that the recording process was far easier for his other half.

“…When we were in the studio recording ‘Speak to a Girl,’ just laying the tracks down, for me, it was kind of like a quarter horse trying to keep up with a thoroughbred singing in there. So when you listen to this track, what you hear Faith sing is what she sang when we were in the tracking room laying down the song. And mine, you know, I had to do a little work on mine. She just nailed hers right off the bat.”

And that right there, ladies and gents, is a prime example how you “talk to a woman” and “Speak to a Girl.”
