Like father, like son. Zac Brown Band is dedicating their latest single, “My Old Man,” to the personal relationship shared between the singer and his dad.

Stripping the track down as an emotional tribute to the memories from long ago of a household hero, Zac Brown shows true vulnerability throughout the humbling lyrics regarding the pride he has for his father.

With lyrics like, “He was a lion / We were our father’s pride / But I was defiant when he made me walk the line / He knew how to lift me up and when to let me fall / And looking back he always had a plan / My old man,” it’s impossible to miss the genuine connection Brown devotes to his dad.

Relating it back to passing that same love down to his own children, the dedicated tune wells up all of the deepest feelings he holds for the man who paved the way for the family. Brown even sounds a tad teary-eyed toward the end of the final chorus, reminiscing and hoping one day he can meet with his beloved mentor once again.

“My Old Man” will be featured on the band’s forthcoming record, Welcome Home, which Brown has admitted will be the album that hits the heart hardest throughout their collection.

“This is the most personal album we’ve ever done and we’re very proud of it,” said Brown. “Welcome Home.”

Fans can take a listen to “My Old Man” now as they wait for Welcome Home to be released on May 12.
