Country music represented itself well this year as the nominees for the 2017 American Music Awards proved to be quite controlled by the genre.

Every year, the American Music Awards honors the top names in the music industry from all genres including pop, rock, R&B and country.

Keith Urban leads the pack of country nominees with three nominations, including a spot in the Favorite Male Artist—Country, Favorite Album—Country and Favorite Song—Country sections. Sam Hunt follows right behind with two nominations in the Favorite Song—Country and Favorite Male Artist—Country categories.

Also on the list is Garth Brooks, who earned his spot among artists like Coldplay and U2 with a nod in the all-genre category for Best Tour of the Year.

While performances for the broadcast have yet to be announced, fans can only sit in wonder about who will pride country music for what it is during the 2017 American Music Awards.
