The argument of what makes country music country is one no one can seem to win. Many memes have been made of the late greats “rolling in their graves” at today’s country music, while others have said there’s room enough for everyone.

Former Staind frontman Aaron Lewis, who is releasing his new album Sinner this Friday, was recently very outspoken about his thoughts on the hot topic. During a show in Colorado, Lewis called out Sam Hunt, Luke Bryan, Dan + Shay, Cole Swindell and “every other mother f***** that is just choking the life out of country music.”

“So sometimes the things that I say get me in trouble and I don’t really give a f*** because usually the person I end up defending is part of the problem, so like I said, I really don’t give a f***.  With that being said, I just want to thank a few people for inspiring me to write this next song,” Lewis told the crowd before thanking the aforementioned for the inspiration behind his current single “That Ain’t Country.”
