Reba is making her way back to the throws of television and is finding her home sweet home at the network of ABC.

The country singer recently announced that she would be joining a drama television series made by Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, in which she would play the role of Sheriff Ruby Adair. The character would have her sheltered beliefs challenged through the fighting of crime in her little Kentucky town and meeting a variety of interesting characters along the way.

This marks Reba’s first-ever dramatic role on television, as she’s been known for her parts in former shows like Reba and Malibu Country. Although those roles were nonetheless challenging for the country queen, they still embodied more of her lighthearted personality that she will have to transform to take on her new character.

The show will not just be considered a drama, but it was approved for its pilot status by ABC under an untitled soap platform. While the show will most likely land on the nightly schedule after its creation, it will feature more dramatic scenes than a typical television drama series.

Reba is looking forward to a big year in her career throughout 2017, as she also plans to release a new album called Sing It Now: Songs of Faith and Hope on February 3.
