It’s a wrap at ABC for Reba McEntire & Co. as network executives stopped her new television drama series from moving forward in production, Deadline reports.

Red Blooded originally found its home at the nationwide network thanks to the work put in by Reba and producer Marc Cherry. Although the potential soap opera-based show will not continue its work at ABC, the production company has been rumored to pitch the pilot around to find a new home for its further development including Lifetime and CMT.

Reba was set to play the role of Sheriff Ruby Adair in the series, which took place in a small Kentucky town where a tragic crime would be committed. Challenged by the differing beliefs and attributes of her FBI-based partner, Reba’s character would battle both the investigation and her colleague in the dramatic show.

“I’m a dark character,” Reba previously said to CMT’s Cody Alan. “I’ve got a lot of flaws and demons, and I’m having a lot of problems in my personal life. My town is being disrupted and I’m having to deal with it all. I’m under a lot of stress.”

While the halt in the making of the show could cause tension for the creative team, Cherry is no stranger to this rejection as his last series, Devious Maids, jumped around the network circle to ultimately find a home on Lifetime for four seasons.

There is no word yet on when or where Red Blooded will air on television.
