Taking the motion that many other country stars have done recently, Alan Jackson is contributing funds to help out victims in the Hurricane Harvey aftermath with the assistance of his Nashville bar.

The country singer reflected on the country connection from Tennessee to Texas and decided to honor their musical alliance by launching the ‘#Honkytonks4Texas’ initiative over the Labor Day holiday weekend. With his own honkytonk called AJ’s Good Time Bar set right in the heart of downtown Nashville, Jackson thought of no better way to raise awareness over the disaster efforts than through every customer that steps into his honkytonk for a fun time.

“I’ve toured a lot over the years in east Texas, played the Houston Rodeo 23 times and I hate to see what’s happening down there. It’s tough to watch…and I can’t imagine what my fans and all the people of Texas are goin’ through…and I hope this allows folks in Nashville to feel like they can do a little something to help,” said Jackson recently.

Not only is Jackson opening up his business to help out those in need following the devastation in Southeast Texas, he also wants to encourage other Nashville businesses to get involved as well with his idea by donating some of their funds from purchases to storm relief. Understanding a similar feeling to those who lost everything in Texas, the general manager also sympathized with the victims due to Nashville’s flooding back in 2010.

“Just seven short years ago, we were all impacted by a crippling flood in Nashville, and we couldn’t have made it through it without the overwhelming amount of support we received nationwide,” said Matt Harville, who is the general manager at AJ’s Good Time Bar. “Finding a way to give back is an easy choice, and we hope other bars and honky tonks on Broadway will join us in this effort.”

The #Honkytonk4Texas drive will be held all throughout Labor Day weekend, and AJ’s Good Time Bar will be donate $1 of each purchase to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which will give the funds to Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts.
