Alan Jackson has long been a country music staple, releasing countless hits including “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow,” “I’ll Go On Loving You,” “Gone Country,” “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning),” among others. But it’s the lesser known “Like Red on A Rose” that captivated several dogs in a shelter in Henderson, North Carolina.

In a video posted by Vance County Animal Shelter, Animal Service Officer Chad Olds busted out his guitar as part of an enrichment project. Enrichment, which is something the shelter does to keep the animal’s minds engaged while awaiting adoption, is typically done with toys, treats and activities. According to TODAY, the shelter decided to change things up with music, as it’s been proven to calm animals down.

“I said, ‘Go sing to the dogs,'” Olds boss, Frankie Nobles, told TODAY.

The result was fascinating as within seconds of his singing, the dogs quieted down.

“They just stopped barking. It blew my mind,” recalled Olds.

The group posted the video to Facebook and quickly garnered more than 400,000 views. Viewers can see the dogs instantly calm down and look to Olds for comfort while they await their forever home.

Jackson and his team caught wind of the “concert” and praised them for their unique idea to help appease the pups.

“Shout out to Chad & Friends of Vance County Animal Shelter! What a great way to share Alan’s music!” they wrote on Facebook.

After seeing the reaction of the dogs, the shelter plans to continue their concert series in hopes of placing each of their dogs in loving homes. “What we did it for is the exposure for the animals,” said Nobles. Added Olds, “We want to find them homes. Get them adopted.”
