Love makes you do some crazy things, and not having it makes matters worse for Billy Currington in his new single, “Wake Me Up.”

Written by Ashley Gorley, Josh Osborne and Jimmy Robbins, the song tosses and turns with the idea that sleep is irrelevant now that love has been lost. Tangled up in sheets alone, Currington plays the devastated narrator by trying to casually brush off his loneliness in the middle of the night in the rocking track.

The lyrics tell it all in a harshly sarcastic manner along the lines of, “I might be drinking at a bar down the street / I might be listening to some song on repeat / I might be in my bed but I won’t be asleep / don’t you worry ‘bout me.” Tragically unfolding into a desire to have the one he cares about back in his arms, Currington sadly accepts his awakening fate.

“Wake Me Up” marks the fifth single to land on country radio from his latest album, Summer Forever. It follows the chart-toppers “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To,” “Do I Make You Wanna,” and “Don’t It” as well as the fan-favorite, “Drinkin’ Town with a Football Problem.”

Currington currently has tour dates lined up in both September and October. Fans can find more details about the tour on the website.
