When it comes to New Years resolutions, many people have one thing on the brain… exercise! Thousands of people head to the gym to get a head start on their summer beach bods and shed those extra holiday pounds only to eventually cancel those memberships and forget the whole thing ever happened.

Well for 2017, Billy Currington has plans to also exercise… exercise his songwriting muscle! The Georgia native has spent much of 2016 out on the road touring for his Summer Forever Tour or staycationing at his home in Hawaii. But for next year, he plans on getting back into the songwriting community more than ever before.

“I definitely miss it,” Currington told Sounds Like Nashville and other reporters of songwriting at his recent No.1 party. “I kind of went this way and got away from it. Fortunately I’ve stayed connected to this town and all they great songwriters and email makes everything so easy. They just ship the songs and you hear a great one, you get to come here and record it, but I do miss the songwriting part of it and just being a part of this and how this went. I look at myself as definitely doing more of that.”

The Georgia native will definitely have to exercise his songwriting skills some more as his most recent No.1 “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To” hit the top of the charts for two weeks.
