Blake Shelton may be busy with a brand new season of NBC’s The Voice, but he made sure to carve out time for a stop in Nashville, TN to celebrate his 23rd No.1 song. In a packed Sutler Saloon on Feb. 28, Shelton gathered with “A Guy with a Girl” songwriters Ashley Gorley and Bryan Simpson and many music industry insiders to honor the song that topped the country radio charts for three weeks.

“I’ll just say real quick here, I was just listening to everyone talk and looking out into this crowd and I’m always happy and excited, obviously, to be a part of one of these No.1 parties, but it’s always cool to me to see how much support writers get, not just with the community, but from their families and everybody who just comes out here and celebrates these talented songwriters. I’ve been lucky enough to see this time and time again but I don’t think until tonight, just standing out here and looking out, and know how this community embraces songwriters,” Shelton said during the celebration. “The writers in this town, they are so talented. It’s unbelievable.”

Shelton went on to push the attention off of himself, adding that the songwriters should get all of the credit.

“I appreciate everything that people said about me, but this is about these two guys here today,” he said, pointing to Gorley and Simpson. “Thank you guys for a great song and go write me another one, for God sakes. Quit sittin’ around.”

“A Guy With A Girl” is the fourth single from Shelton’s latest album If I’m Honest and follows his smash hits “Came Here to Forget” and “She’s Got A Way With Words.” Currently, the Oklahoma native is out on the road for his Doing It To Country Songs Tour and is also underway with season 12 of The Voice.
