Blake Shelton Celebrates Billboard Award Win with Kiss From Gwen Stefani
“I felt like I was the luckiest guy in the room anyway because Gwen is here with me, so I had a good feeling about it,” Shelton excitedly said.
Blake Shelton was the country man of the evening at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards as he took home two prestigious awards: Top Country Artist and Best Boyfriend of the Year.
As the newly crowned Top Country Artist was called up to accept his shining trophy, he leaned over to girlfriend and pop star Gwen Stefani for a congratulatory kiss before gracing the stage. In awe over the honor as well as the love showered over him, Shelton threw Stefani a loving shout-out before thanking the rest of his devoted fan base.
“I felt like I was the luckiest guy in the room anyway because Gwen is here with me, so I had a good feeling about it,” Shelton excitedly said.
Although Stefani may be his true No. 1 fan at the moment, Shelton also took a little bit of time to recognize the fans for getting him to the top accolade in his genre at the awards ceremony. Noting that it’s their dedication that truly earned him his award, the country star realized how grateful he is to establish that connection with the ones that help create his success.
“I know this award is based on facts and industry things, sales and streaming and radio airplay and all that stuff, but I think … if it weren’t for the fans, we wouldn’t have the sales and ticket sales and the airplay. Thank you fans, first and foremost,” he told the packed Las Vegas crowd.
Acting as an even more supportive relationship partner, Shelton even got the audience up out of their seats to give Stefani a standing ovation as she presented pop icon Cher with the Icon Award.
Shelton is currently still working his magic as a coach on this season of NBC’s The Voice, which airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
