Blake Shelton was in quite the charitable mood as he donated $600,000 to the Jimmy Everest Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City during the opening weekend of his 2016 fall tour.

An Oklahoma native himself, Shelton has always been one to give back to the state he’s called home for many years. During his last visit to the area, he helped out by throwing a benefit concert to raise money after the devastation from tornadoes in 2013. This time around though, he wanted to focus on the kids and send them some love.

“They don’t turn any kids away. You come in there, you have a problem, they don’t turn anybody away, so I thought ‘That’s a place that needs some money,” said Shelton during his concert over the weekend. “Let’s all do the right thing. This is our money, Oklahoma.”

Shelton’s tour started off with a bang thanks to that generous donation as well as a surprise appearance from girlfriend Gwen Stefani to help him out for their duet of “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” RaeLynn also lit up the stage by opening up for the country superstar and kicked off the show in style.

Continuing on tour for the next few weeks, Shelton will make stops all across the country, wrapping the tour on October 8 in New York City at the Barclays Center for two nights. He also will balance his tour life with his time as a celebrity coach on NBC’s The Voice, which premieres on September 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
