Season 10 of NBC’s hit show The Voice kicks off later this month. With the premiere just weeks away, Blake Shelton is opening up about why he chose Gwen Stefani as a mentor for his team.
“We know we collaborate well together as coaches, so of course I would have her as my mentor, and she’s so smart and talented,” the Oklahoma native tells PEOPLE.
Shelton and Stefani confirmed their relationship back in November and have been spending quite a bit of time together. They attended Shelton’s hairstylist’s wedding together, as well as former The Voice contestant RaeLynn’s engagement party.
Shelton will return to the popular show as a coach with Adam Levine, Pharrell and Christina Aguilera. Pharrell has tapped Diddy as his team mentor, while Aguilera enlisted Patti LaBelle and Levine recruited Tori Kelly. Miley Cyrus has been added as the key advisor for all four teams.
Season 10 of The Voice premieres Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
