The unexpected always goes down when Blake Shelton and Jimmy Fallon get together for some silly shenanigans, and they proved just that while playing the ‘Name That Song Challenge’ on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night (3/19).

Shelton sounded a tad hesitant over the concept, in which Fallon’s band would play a famous song one instrument at a time. Introducing all of the sounds over a short period, the contestants would soon be able to obviously hear the tune of whatever track it was to guess the correct answer. Fallon ended up winning the first two rounds as Shelton got his footing together with the competition.

Finally, Shelton’s time to shine came when he nailed the answer of “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins after hearing that eerie symbol tempo drop in. Relishing in all his glory, the country singer stepped up the stage and gave his thanks to the audience for their support with a thunderous clap.

Fumbling a bit in the following rounds, Shelton lost a couple more times and wound up in the hypothetical doghouse for not recognizing “Hollaback Girl” by his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani. Thankfully, he redeemed himself in full by coming out victorious by naming the final performance as “Footloose” and getting all the praise.

The two continued their petty shade when they talked about Shelton’s touring and his time on The Voice this season with new coach, Kelly Clarkson. Fallon and Shelton’s banter was at an all-time high this time around, because the late-night host brought out a vintage picture of the singer just to humiliate him like always.

Before finishing his appearance on The Tonight Show, Shelton also performed his latest single called “I Lived It,” which is a track from Texoma Shore.

Shelton just wrapped up his run on the Country Music Freaks Tour and will commit himself as a full-time judge on The Voice, which airs on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
