Blake Shelton Named as People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2017
Shelton used his bantering friendship with Adam Levine on The Voice to announce the big news in a skit, where the country singer bragged about his new title.
Move over, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson! There’s a new Sexiest Man Alive and he goes by the name of Blake Shelton, according to People.
The country singer earned the prestigious annual title as announced during Tuesday night’s (11/14) episode of NBC’s The Voice. In a hilarious skit, Shelton took his fellow coach, Adam Levine, to a random brick wall to showcase the big surprise. Once the cover featuring Shelton’s profile was unveiled, Levine prided his former reign upon the country singer before revealing that he actually talks to the other Sexiest Men Alive from years prior all the time.
Although he felt flattered to be given the rank every man desires, Shelton expressed his confusion over the selection and used humility to blame his win on symmetry.
“That y’all must be running out of people,” he said to People. “Like, Wow, we’re down to somebody who is somewhat symmetrical.”Of course, the “I’ll Name the Dogs” singer couldn’t help but show his lady, Gwen Stefani, some love after getting the complimentary accolade. He even joked how much he would continue to brag about his reign to Levine, especially as they spend hours together on set for filming.
In the exclusive cover story, Shelton also referred to his body as “fat” despite trying to keep in shape as much as possible on the treadmill when he’s getting down to business. But the moment he flies out to his home in Oklahoma, everything about health goes out the window and the singer indulges on all of his guilty pleasures regardless of his physique.
“It could be 2 o’clock in the afternoon before I eat and then I realize I’m starving, so then it’s a bag of Cheetos. And there’s a Sonic in town, they got jalapeno poppers. And then I’m not hungry again until 10 o’clock, well what’s in there? Fishsticks. And like a big pickle, those pickles that come in its own package with juice? It is really bad,” Shelton admitted.
Shelton’s stardom over the past few years has defined his decades-long career, with his role on The Voice as well as more than just a few No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. He recently added his sixth top record to the list with the release of Texoma Shore. He’ll soon follow everything up from the year with the Country Music Freaks tour coming to cities in 2018.
