It’s just been mere hours since a new winner of The Voice has been crowned, but that doesn’t stop Blake Shelton from looking ahead to the next few seasons. As he headed into night one of the two-part finale, the country crooner stopped to chat with Entertainment Tonight alongside fellow coach Alicia Keys.

When asked about having his longtime friend Kelly Clarkson join the reality singing competition for season 14, Shelton shared that he’s readying his ears for a lot of chitter-chatter.

“I used to think that Miley Cyrus would be the person that talks the most ever in the history of this show,” Shelton joked with the news outlet. “Now that they brought in Kelly Clarkson. Oh. My. God. Thank God they’re at least on different seasons because my ears would fall off of my head. There would be no oxygen left in the room. Neither one of them could stop talking.”

Clarkson will have to wait a little longer before talking Shelton’s ear off as she’s set to join the cast in the spring of 2018. In the meantime, Shelton is preparing for Cyrus to return, along with American Idol alum and new coach Jennifer Hudson for season 13 in the fall of 2017.
