Nothing beats a hometown crowd, especially when the money earned from the show goes right back into the local community’s growth.

Blake Shelton headed back home to Tishomingo, Oklahoma, to play a few little shows for folks in the Midwest at his Ole Red restaurant and live venue space. Hundreds of people showed up to catch the country singer do his thing, which led to the massive donation to help fund a project in the local area for citizens to continue building around town.

Even Shelton mentioned how special it was to come right back to where he grew up and help out the people he knows and loves in a simple way like performing.

“It’s always fun to play your hometown and now that we have Ole Red in Tishomingo, we can pop up and play anytime,” said Shelton of the concerts. “We played a lot of music, had fun and raised money for Pennington Park! Now that’s a good time!”

Through the ticket sales, Shelton and Ryman Hospitality will give $50,000 to Tishomingo to help improve the grounds at Pennington Park. Known as an overnight camping spot for RVs and regular tents alike, the property also has access to a boat ramp, a fishing hole and walking trails for visitors. The people of Tishomingo want to use the funds to fix up the splash pad and possibly add some water features to the park as well.

Shelton will now leave home and head out on the road for his Country Music Freaks Tour for the majority of winter. Fans can find out more information about the tour on his website.
