From radio to the silver screen… the Grand Ole Opry sure has come a long way!

A new movie, “American Saturday Night Live from the Grand Ole Opry,” is set to hit theaters as a feature-length film this winter. Earlier this week (8/31), Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge and The Band Perry all gathered at the Opry to film the movie.

Crews gathered performance and backstage video to give fans a front-row seat of everything Opry. “It’s like a mega behind-the-scenes version of The Opry,” The Band Perry’s Reid Perry told The Tennessean.

“I’m excited for the movie to come out because, to me, one of the coolest things we’ve got to be a part of as The Band Perry is being backstage at the Opry,” Kimberly Perry added.

Even Paisley was “so excited to be asked” to join the movie. “The main goal of my career was to be an Opry member. Once you get that, it becomes so much more than that. It becomes family and friendships and part of your life, really. These people out here from (Opry general manager) Pete (Fisher) to artists like Bill Anderson and Jeannie Seely and the people I associate with these backstage experiences, there’s so many great memories now.”

For the taping, Paisley played his new “Country Nation” single, and included “American Saturday Night.” The Band Perry performed their “Opry approved” new single, “Live Forever,” as well as “If I Die Young” and “Better Dig Two.” Rucker performed an album cut “So I Sang,” a song he hopes to have on country radio.
