This week has been pretty devastating for the state of West Virginia due to severe flooding throughout the state.

According to The Weather Channel’s website, emergency management officials have claimed that more than 500 homes have been severely damaged or destroyed in what is being called the third deadliest flooding event on record. The flood has left 23 dead and thousands homeless.

Although stories of the flood haven’t quite made its way to the mainstream media, several country artists have spoken out about the devastating results, the most outspoken of which has been West Virginia native Brad Paisley.

“I am heartbroken for West Virginia, seeing all the flooding and devastation. Please be safe,” the singer tweeted on Friday (6/24). He added, “Hey media, in all the hoopla about this EU/Britain stuff, don’t forget about West Virginia. Show people what’s happening there.”

Since then, the singer has posted that he’s currently working on something to help the victims of the devastating waters.

“As the waters recede, now there is so much work to be done. We are working on the best ways to help West Virginia. Stay tuned,” the singer tweeted yesterday.

No word on Paisley’s plans as of yet.
