Brad Paisley was like a kid in a candy store while looking at all of the reminiscent materials of his past on display for the opening of his new exhibition Brad Paisley: Diary of a Player at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Exploring all of his most prized possessions from his first guitar to some letters he wrote Santa as a kid, Paisley was in disbelief over the collection of goods that represent him and his iconic career.

“My wife is ecstatic that this is all out of storage! It’s really kind of fun to look back at this and everything I see has a memory for me, but other people will be looking at it thinking, ‘Why does that matter,’” joked Paisley during an exclusive interview with Sounds Like Nashville at the exhibit.

The career-spanning exhibit highlights a number of career achievements and personal accolades that represent Paisley’s journey within the country music format. As an artist who’s been around for quite some time, Paisley reflected on how every opportunity led to the exhibit and his success, and how much that means to him.

“It’s interesting to think about the path of a kid in West Virginia eight years old and then all the way to now,” he explained. “I see that first guitar and I think about sort of the moments that I started to really think, ‘I hope they make me a part of this country music.’ I had a goal, I had a dream.”

Paisley got a bit emotional as he previewed the exhibit along with his wife Kimberly Williams Paisley, his two sons Huck and Jasper Paisley, and his parents Doug and Sandy Paisley.
